This fish-out-of-water action comedy was one of the biggest films of the 1980s and helped to propel stand-up-comic Eddie Murphy into superstardom. Axel Foley is a streetwise Detroit cop who finds himself in Los Angeles on the trail of the killer of his buddy. With an anarchic approach, his unorthodox methods first annoy, then rub off on his Californian colleagues. Relentlessly snappy dialogue and quirky incidental characters help make the movie every bit as fresh today as it was back in 1984.
Contains violence, frequent strong language, including racial slurs, and some outdated cultural stereotypes that some may find offensive.
