Synopsis

This romantic drama, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks, begins with a kindly old man, Duke, who regularly visits an elderly woman at a local nursing home. To entertain her, Duke reads from a faded old notebook which appears to be a record of the sweeping, tragic World War II romance between Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton. As their story progresses, however, it becomes clear that there is more to the journal's content than meets the eye.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
