Synopsis

Following the events in the first film, Harry Potter spends a quiet summer back in the Muggle world with his horrible relatives, the Dursleys. Having heard nothing from Ron or Hermione, Harry becomes even more perturbed when a house-elf named Dobby appears in his bedroom and warns him not to return to Hogwarts. Despite Dobby’s best efforts, Harry – with the help of Ron and his brothers – makes his way back to school just in time for the new term in an unconventional manner, using the Weasleys’ flying car. But after arriving, Harry soon discovers that Dobby’s cautionary words were sincere. As students and others are found petrified – turned to stone – by a mysterious curse, a menacing message appears: “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir… beware.” Gaining a reputation for tackling trouble head-on instead of staying safe, Harry, Ron, and Hermione look into the history of one of Hogwarts’ four founders, Salazar Slytherin, to uncover the truth.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
