Synopsis

Mary and Tom are parentless Irish siblings who, in the year 1886, arrive in New York City via ocean liner and quickly find themselves on a wild, cross-country journey aboard the transcontinental “orphan train”. Fuelled by curiosity, friendship, and teamwork, they make an extraordinary new friend called Nick, who uses a wheelchair and communicates in his own special way. But their dangerous and discovery-filled quest will also introduce them to devious villains who stand in their way of happiness. Hailed for its positive representation of disability and inclusion, this fizzy animation blends strong themes of family and friendship with a historical story of immigration.

This film is a Spanish production and is available to watch with both English and Spanish audio.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
