This part-travelogue part-drama was made by the Children’s Film Foundation as part of a series to introduce the young audiences attending the popular Saturday morning film screenings of the 1950s to different parts of the United Kingdom. Here we are transported to Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight, home to a young schoolboy called Dick. When his cousin Mary comes to visit from London, he shows her around the local area and shares with her his favourite pastimes, such as shrimping along the beach, fishing for mackerel and visiting the donkey who pulls up water from the well house in Carisbrooke Castle. But their scenic day out goes somewhat awry when their rowing boat is swept out to sea, until they spot the iconic Needles Lighthouse.
