In this highly accessible Scottish documentary, humour and honesty work together to tackle an important topic: men’s mental health. Duncan is a young filmmaker who wants to explore this subject, but he is not sure where to start, being a bit rubbish at expressing his own emotions. His greatest fear is losing his parents, but he can barely face the awkwardness of showing affection with a hug, let alone saying out loud that he loves them. He publishes an ad to find other ‘blokes to talk about feelings’, goes on a men’s retreat, interviews a trauma expert, and tentatively discusses the matter with his family. In some ways, Duncan’s camera is like a shield that he has always been able to hide behind - but it now prompts him to initiate change in himself, beautifully highlighting the therapeutic value of filmmaking.
suicide references, moderate sex references, infrequent strong language
