Synopsis

Cady Heron is the new girl at school, with her family having relocated to a Chicago suburb after growing up in Kenya. As she struggles with the social conventions of her newfound high-school surroundings, Cady isn’t sure where she fits in. She befriends two other outcasts at the school, Janis and Damian, who introduce her to various groups, including the self-styled “Plastics”. Led by their Queen Bee, Regina George, this female trio are at the top of the social food chain and so when Cady finds herself courted by them, she feels compelled to join them. While she is initially simply curious about Regina and her followers, Cady soon becomes an integral fourth member of the clique and begins to adopt many of their traits. But when Cady develops a crush on Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron, she must make a choice between her social standing and the things she really wants. Adapted from the Broadway stage version, this musical version of ‘Mean Girls’ is a new twist on the modern classic.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
