Synopsis

Throughout his multi-decade career, journalist Mike Wallace was known, and feared, for his uncompromising interviews with some of the world’s most famous people. His pioneering television show, 60 Minutes, first aired in 1968 and became one of the most watched in America during the 37 years that he appeared on it as a correspondent and featured discussions with Malcolm X, Barbara Streisand, army generals and the ruler of Iran amongst many others. These interviews effected both politics and social attitudes around America and showcased the importance and effect that respected journalism can have on a country. This archival documentary uses excerpts from many of his interviews, amongst other footage, to explore Mike’s personal life as well as generate discussions around ethical journalistic practices, integrity and the shape of the current media landscape - perfect as a lens for studying history or media studies.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
