Synopsis

Jamie Campbell lives with his supportive mum in an ex-mining village in County Durham. While he is an out gay teenager, he has another secret which most people don’t know: he wants to be a drag queen. Not only does he have career aspirations to this effect, but he’s determined to announce the news by turning up in drag to his end of school prom. Along the way, Jamie must decide whether he wants to tell his absent father this truth, and also spends time learning the tricks of the trade with an established drag artist. Inspiring the hit stage musical ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ as well as the film adaptation of the same name, ‘Jamie: Drag Queen at 16’ is an inspirational story about family, community, and staying true to yourself.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
