Becoming Queen of the United Kingdom at the age of 25, upon the death of her father George VI, Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-serving woman as a head of state in history. She has reigned through major historical events such as the Troubles, the decolonisation of Africa and, most recently, the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. Instead of just focusing on the vast public knowledge of the royal and her family, the film is an upbeat and celebratory look at her lifetime of duty and service. Rare archive footage and interviews give the audience a closer look at the Queen’s personality and humour, and the impact her rule has had on British values and culture. This fun and uplifting documentary gives valuable insight into one of the most famed monarchs in history.
