Director Wes Anderson brings his distinctive style to the anthology format, using the premise of a newspaper in a fictional French town named Ennui-sur-Blasé to set the stage for what he calls “a love letter to journalists”. These peculiar stories include that of a tormented artist who refuses to sell his paintings to another prisoner, the relationship between a student revolutionary and the reporter covering his impact on the town and a food journalist who recounts his experience of a high-profile kidnapping during an evening dinner. Fast-paced, beautifully designed and disarmingly funny, ‘The French Dispatch’ also aims to highlight the importance of good journalism and the joy of living within a culture different from your own.
A cynical journalist is sent to interview famous children’s television presenter Fred Rogers and finds his life beginning to change for the better.
