After leaving his family home behind for a fresh start in New York, naïve Oklahoma farmboy Claude becomes involved in hippie culture. He falls in love with a local girl who’s rebelling against her privileged upbringing, but their happiness is cut short when Claude is called to join the Army. Based on the iconic 1960s stage musical, this big screen reworking is bolstered by energetic, likeable performances and imaginatively staged musical numbers, which make the most of its New York setting. The anti-war message, meanwhile, is no less relevant today than it was in the 1960s.
This film contains strong language, strong sex references and nudity and drug use. It is recommended only for our oldest and most mature INTO FILM members.
