Los Angeles, the mid-1970s: Aspiring teenage rocker Joan Jett approaches sleazy manager Kim Fowley with the idea of an all girl rock 'n' roll band (revolutionary at the time, when girl groups were unthreatening, with harmonizing voices and outfits). He recruits underage singer Cherie Currie and The Runaways are born. Pulsing with the energy of its music, this neon-lit rollercoaster ride captures the excitement of the music scene, while not shying away from the exploitation of the girls.
This film conatins strong language, drug use and scenes of a sexual nature.
