Leading the DVD releases this week is boxing drama Creed II, the sequel to 2015's wildly successful Rocky spin-off. Set three years after the first film, Adonis Creed now holds the World Heavyweight Championship title, but must juggle his newfound success with his family life as he begins to settle down with his girlfriend. When one of his father's old adversaries shows up with a fresh challenge for Apollo, Creed must decide whether pursuing his dreams should come at the cost of his new family. Alongside epic boxing scenes, this is also a compelling exploration of defiance, family and mental health.
Also new on DVD this week is Japanese family drama Shoplifters, winner of the prestigious Palme d'or award at Cannes in 2018. Following the tribulations of a family living on the margins of poverty in a Tokyo suburb, this intimate and beautiful exploration of the family unit deals with moral questions around crime alongside the experiences of those on low incomes, complicating the notion of what is right and wrong.
